HDTV is the highest format of Digital Television. Pictures are turned into digital information, much like the way an image is stored on a computer. The digital information is transmitted to your home via antenna, satellite, or cable TV. Once received, it is converted back into pictures by a decoder that's built into your television or a separate set-top-box.
